Advanced Prototyping Laboratory

ITR recognizes the importance of both fundamental and applied research. Given recent advances in information and communications technology (ICT), applied research projects often involve the realization of hardware or software designs with a high degree of computational complexity. Good design and test facilities are essential for these activities. Using infrastructure funding from UniSA, ITR has recently established an Advanced Prototyping Laboratory (APL) which has significantly improved our ability to meet demanding ICT requirements.
ITR's current APL facilities include:- Computer aided design and simulation software, including comprehensive software tools for field programmable gate array design and PCB design
- A high-performance computational cluster used for large software simulations
- High speed test equipment including a 3.5 GHz oscilloscope and Ka Band spectrum analyser
- A broad range of general test equipment including signal generators, signal vector analysers, logic analysers and noise sources and bit error rate analysers
These facilities are currently being used by ITR staff and students for a wide range of projects including postgraduate research, ARC funded projects and projects with other groups in UniSA and external organizations. Many of these projects are mentioned on other pages of this web site
ITR invites enquiries regarding the collaborative use of our APL facilities.
