This 2 day short course provides an overview of modern receiver design, including signal processing architectures, synchronisation algorithms and the inclusion of iterative (i.e. turbo) decoding methods in receiver processing.
We assume basic knowledge of digital communication techniques and describe algorithms used for modulation, coding and multiple access methods, both on AWGN and multipath channels. This course outlines the underlying approaches used to realise current terrestrial and satellite communication standards.
The presentations include Matlab demonstrations and exercises designed to illustrate the key concepts and algorithms.
