The South Australian Networking Laboratory, SANLab, is an exciting partnership between universities, industry and government to build an advanced experimental research capability in wireless mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs).
SANLab’s mission is to EVALUATE, CREATE and DELIVER wireless networking technologies. SANLab’s vision is to be the national leader in advanced wireless networking technologies in support of defence, security and safety applications. This will be achieved through internationally competitive RESEARCH, EXPERIMENTATION and PROOF OF CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT.
SANLab is a partnership between the Institute for Telecommunications Research (ITR) at the University of South Australia, the Centre for Defence Communications and Information Networking (CDCIN) at the University of Adelaide, BAE Systems, Cisco and the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC). SANLab is supported by the Government of South Australia, through the Premier's Science and Research Fund.
Software Defined Radio Platform
|
At ITR, SANLab is building a software defined radio (SDR) facility for physical layer and cross-layer experimentation and research. The SDR comprises a computer (PC) hosted Simulink model-based simulation and design platform, incorporating GPP, DSP and FPGA resources with code-generation tools (Xylinx System Generator, TI Code Composer Studio). The system will be capable of forward and reverse links with either single-input single-output (SISO) or 2x2 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) operation at 2.5 GHz. The SDR is part of SANLab’s experimental facility, and will support several of SANLab’s research and development projects, as well as industry collaborations. |
